Eisenbahn Infrastruktur

The aim of the SMARAGD project is to demonstrate an automated condition monitoring of critical railway infrastructure with the help of unmanned aircraft systems as flying sensor. As far as possible, this shall include automatic detection of damaged structures and the use of drones capable of automatic flight task execution. This includes automatic flight guidance and image processing methods. The aspired solution must consider the regulatory framework on remotely piloted aircraft systems as well as difficult flight conditions as obstacles, weather and low-level flight. The use of mCLOUD’s data sets and data structures can lead to novel solutions, and spatial data (services) are generated.
